Welcome to BobCon!
BobCon is just around the corner and it is time to prepare! Seriously, BobCon is just over a month away and preparations for the weekend of fun have begun. Over the next several weeks (okay, six), you will probably receive emails galore (updates, reminders, announcements, etc.). We will try to keep them to a minimum but we want you to be as informed as possible.
Event Submission is Live
We are now officially accepting event submissions. Many of you have already been approached by our event coordinator, Dave Phillips, to run something. But if not then head on over to the site, register for a site account if you don't have one, and submit an event. We want, nay need, more events. That is where you come in! Run an adventure in your favorite role-playing system or simply make sure there is a game of <insert favorite game here> on the schedule. This convention is about playing the games you want to play. Check out the BobCon Game Library to see what we have available if you need any ideas.
You can Submit Events right now! Event submission will be taken through October 12, but don’t wait.
Along with the Event Submission page, the RSVP form is also live today. Whether you are able to attend this year's convention or not, we ask you take a minute to fill it out. It helps us to know how many attendees we can expect. It also important to know why those of you who are unable attend this year can't, so we can make every effort to make future events as accessible as possible (just use the "comments" section).
Event Registration Coming September 28
Now that the events are posted you might ask, "When can I sign up so that I don't miss out on getting into Candyland?" The Event Sign-up form should go live September 28. A reminder will be sent out that weekend, too.
As far as registration for this year's convention, the initial RSVP is all we need. With the help of last year’s Game Auction and our Spring and Summer Texas Hold’em Tournaments we were able to keep admission for BobCon to only $5 per day or $10 for the whole weekend. You can use the donation button on the Website to pay ahead of time. We are also happy to accept any additional donations – anything you contribute to BobCon is much appreciated!
Out of Town Guests
It looks like we will have several out-of-town attendees again this year. It is great to have enough interest in BobCon to be able to draw from outside the local area. This year we were able to avoid NASCAR Weekend at the Kansas Speedway and RenFest, which means local hotels should be easier to book. Don’t wait, though. If you need help arranging lodging, give us a call (Bob's cell: 913-669-5768). We have many options and no one will be left out in the cold (nor have to pay ridiculous prices). The sooner I hear from you, the better.
The BobCon Council has been working hard to make BobCon 2012 another great weekend. We look forward to seeing you all there!

BobCon 2012 event submissions officially begin Sept 14, but there's no time like the present to be thinking about what you're going to run this year. Is there a board game you love to play and would like to share with others? Volunteer to set it up and demo it! Can't get enough of your favorite card game? Volunteer to run a tournament! At BobCon there are so many experienced gamers of all varieties that many events practically run themselves. Don't be scared! Roleplaying fan? BobCon attendees can't get enough. And we love homebrew!Add a comment
The BobCon Summer Texas Hold'em tournament was again a success!
We had 13 players and brought in $205 for BobCon ($325 in buy-ins and four re-buys for $60, minus the $195 payout – plus a $15 donation from Brad W.). We had some new faces again: Rachel Nadon, Scott Roller, and a friend of Joe & Michelle, but in the end Bob Iliff himself carried the day. The final six were (first to last) Bob Iliff, Scott Roller, Tim Nadon, Jeff Gilbert, Steve Crockett and Dave Phillips.
Many players commented that the level of play is getting better. Rebuys are down, as folks are staying in longer than usual before losing their stash. This is a good thing, though, as everyone wins when the calibre of players is higher.
Our next tournament will probably be in February or March again since BobCon is in October (we probably couldn't fit another one in due to holidays).
Thanks to everyone who came out and made the tournament a success!
BobCon is holding its Summer Texas Hold 'em Tournament to help us raise funds for this year's convention. We will not be having a poker tournament at BobCon, so these satellite events are meant to fill our needs. Here's the basics:
- Saturday, August 4 at 7:00pm
- $25 entry fee, 60% of which will be awarded to the top 3 players.
- Re-buys will be allowed until the first break and will only cost $15.
This event is open to anyone who wants to play or learn Texas Hold 'em. Invite your friends, co-workers, etc. The only caveats are that we will need an RSVP by July 28 in order to ensure we are properly prepared and, due to its nature, this will be an adults-only event.
